The Colorado Street Bridge (aka "suicide bridge") was built in 1913 to span the Arroyo Seco. The courthouse was originally built in 1930 as a grand hotel. (the "Vista Del Arroyo"). During WWII the government claimed the building and converted it to a hospital. After the war the structure became dormant and was up for auction as surplus. Before the public could bid on it, the federal 9th circuit court obtained the building and that's how it is used today.
